SARANAC LAKE — William L. Harvey Jr., 70, of Winchendon, Mass. and formerly of Saranac Lake, died Tuesday Sept. 12, 1993 at his home.
Born on Sept. 21, 1922 in Saranac Lake, he was the son of William L. Harvey, Sr. and Ida Wilkins. He married Diana R. Douglas on Dec. 27, 1947 in St. Bernard's Church. Mrs. Harvey predeceased him on Jan. 24, 1990.
A life-long resident of Saranac Lake until he moved to Winchendon, Mass. in 1991 to be with his family, he was employed at the Burns News Co. for 40 years. A past member of the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department, he was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church.
He also served in the United States Army during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater in the 125 Chemical Processing Company.
Survivors include one son, Michael H. Harvey of Pocomoke, Md.; four daughters, Mrs. Patricia Morris of Stafford, Va., Mrs. Bonnie Nicholas of Winchendon, Mass., Mrs. Rose Marie Claar of Newport News, Va., and Mrs. Peggy Dalton of Woodbridge, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Lillian Paye of Saranac Lake; a brother, Charles Harvey of White Plains; a half-brother, Moreland Flagg of St. Regis Falls; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and, many nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by one daughter, Wilhelmina Rawdon, who died Dec. 4,1981.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will take place at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bill Edwards of St. Bernard's Church officiating. An interment service will take place Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Bernard's Cemetery.
