He had been in failing health for some time and last summer had undergone an operation for amputation of leg. His beat used to include the bathing beach in the summer and the skating rink in the winter and he was fond of distributing goodies to the children.

He was born January 1, 1870, in Keeseville the son of the late Alexander and Louisa Tellstone Paye. He played goalie on the Saranac Lake hockey team. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Pratt and Mrs. George Umber; two brothers, George and Alex Paye and two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Daniels and Mrs. Charles Stevens all of Saranac Lake.
