Inami Wood Carving Shops, Toyama Prefecture

One of the most interesting places to see in Nanto city is Inami wood carving shops (about 7 km from downtown) along the way to Inamibetsuin Zuisenjitemple. The whole street is covered by wood carving shops and you can see many houses are decorated with wood crafts such as in front of the doors, ceilings, entrance gates and even bus stops. You can enjoy and learn Japanese traditional wood craft designs in action. Among them, the most interesting wood carving design made from double-sided wood carving technology. You can see different designs in different side-view of the wood plate. For example, you can see as a crane (a large bird with long legs and long neck) in one side and see as a sparrow in other side. Most of the wood crafts makers need considerable time duration to accomplish their designs. Wood crafts are attracted by many people to decorate their living rooms.
