7-Eleven is a national chain of convenience stores. During the planning process for the store, there were concerns that it would harm local businesses.

During the 2014 Isla Vista Tragedy, Jorge Anaya, a clerk working at the 7-Eleven, rescued a shooting victim from the sidewalk.
