A lot of apartments in IV were built in the 60s, when apparently it was fashionable to give your building a snazzy name and a kitchsy theme.

There are many named apartments from this era around southern California - check out dingbat apartment buildings on Wikipedia for one style - but because these were part of IV's sudden transformation into a dense student neighborhood, our distinctive ones have historic value. (They aren't officially recognized by the county or anything, but they help tell the story of IV.)
