Khmer Angkor, more commonly known as "Cambodian Food", is probably Ithaca's most popular food stand located exclusively at the Saturday and Sunday Farmer's Market. They serve coconut based "Amok" curries, hot pepper stir fries, salads, and various fried vegetarian appetizers. Two of their most popular entrees include the Chicken Amok curry, and the Cambodian Pancake. The chicken curry is made with coconut milk, potato, pineapple, carrot, and special spices. The pancake is stuffed with ground chicken or cooked vegetables, steamed Vermicelli noodles, mint, crushed peanuts, bean sprouts, lettuce, pickled vegetables, and served with sweet fish sauce on the side. Popular desserts include sweet sticky rice with mango, and rice with jackfruit cooked inside a banana leaf. In addition to their skilled cooking, they also homemake their own tofu, rumored to make over a hundred tons a year.

2009-08-09 23:36:41   This is the best Asian food of any kind in Ithaca. The Amok curries are insanely good. The best way I can explain it is take the best aspects of a thai curry and the best aspects of an Indian curry and combine them to make the best curry ever. I especially like the chicken Amok curry, its tastier than the tofu one, but the tofu one is good too. The noodle dish and the pancake dish are also quite good. —MattHh
