Purity Ice Cream is an original Ithaca company, founded in 1936 by Leo Guentert, serving locally made ice cream. Since 1998, Heather and Bruce Lane have carried on the Purity legacy as the owners. They celebrate the fact that the American ice cream sundae was invented here in Ithaca. Of course, like any ice cream shop, they have the traditional stand by flavors, but if you want to be adventurous, they serve some of the wildest flavors in town such as Bulldog Crunch, Madigan Mint, Goose Trax, and many more. The decor features an idealistic design of ice cream shops of the 50s. Customers can enjoy all sorts of treats such as pies, muffins, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and of course, ice cream. Purity is 12%-13% butterfat, making it a premium ice-cream. All Purity ice cream is gluten free, not including the flavors that include additives such as cookies, brownie bits, etc..
