Driving in Liverpool is a little bit like driving elsewhere in the UK, with the following exceptions:

  1. It is compulsory to go through a traffic light that has only just changed from amber to red. Normally 3 or 4 cars can easily get through a freshly changed red light. Drivers behind you will beep and get angry if you don't obey this rule.

  2. Parking on double yellow lines is perfectly acceptable especially if you're just "nipping in the shop". It is also ok to park on a junction. Or a bus stop.

  3. Driving while speaking on your mobile phone is not against the law.

  4. Road tax, valid drivers license, insurance and valid MOT are all optional. Having bald tyres is absolutely compulsory.
