The Marquette Marathon is an annual event (the 2014 race is the 5th) held in late August.  It is an official Boston Marathon qualifier on a an extremely scenic course. Sights along the course include Presque Isle, the Marquette Harbor Lighthouse, iron ore docks, and miles and miles of Lake Superior shoreline. The 2014 race introduces a new course that follows the Iron Ore Heritage Trail, with a substantial vertical drop making it a fast course.
