Every winter, you will see a circle of trees out on frozen Lake Menomin in the center of the southern bay of the lake. You might be tempted to investigate, but don't! These trees mark an underwater spring which wells up and thins the ice in that area. Even if the ice looks solid in that area, it is not safe to walk, drive, or snowmobile near the tree circle.
