Location Barbertown Road is located in the neighbourhood of Streetsville

Details This street dates back to the mid 19th century. It was built to serve the ADM mill, both as an access to Streetsville proper and as an alternate route to Port Credit. A village gradually grew to house workers; the only remains of it today are the Old Barber House restaurant as well as a few houses on Eglinton Avenue. The bridge over the Credit River was built in ca. 1898 and was the only crossing of the river between Main Street / McCaugherty Road to the north and Dundas Street to the south for the next fifty years. Today it only sees foot traffic.
