Central Parkway runs northeast-southwest in a wide U-shape from Eglinton Avenue at Kennedy Road, south to Bloor Street, ending at Burnhamthorpe Road where it turns back north as Creditview Road. Scenery ranges from offices at the west end, to industry around Wolfedale Road, to apartments and houses along the eastern half.

The street has two lanes of traffic per direction, without street parking, for its whole length. Between Central Parkway station and Bloor Street there is a bike path on the east side.

The section through Mississauga Valleys harbours an oddity, namely the two Y-shaped intersections with Bloor Street and Cliff Road North, which were designed to handle traffic from the later cancelled extension of Cliff Road across the Milton line.
