The Etobicoke Creek Trail is designated as a regional trail. When completed, it will travel from the Waterfront Trail along Lake Ontario, through the cities of Mississauga, Toronto, and Brampton up into the Town of Caledon, a total length of 50 kilometers

The name Etobicoke is a First Nation's Algonkian word "wah-do-be-kaug" meaning "place where the alders grow". Alder trees were the most common trees in the area prior to the European Settlement in the lat 1700's.
