Airport parking

SFO-Anza (Dec 2014) Total for 6 day trip was $107.56 including taxes. They charge per day on a 24 hour schedule. Almost always results in additional day if you leave in the morning and arrive back in the afternoon.Good service. Prompt pickup both from parking lot and at airport. Look up route to drive back on google maps. You should turn RIGHT on exiting the lot. I turned left and ended up driving a long way before I could cross the freeway. Bob on Laura LN

Latest info on getting to SJC (November 2010):

Russ Kenny, tel 650.279.1414 or email [email protected] (see above for additional rec). We have been using him for the last few years and is always reliable and so
helpful as we have two kids and luggage to get in/out of the van.

Shuttle - I recently used AM-PM All Airport Shuttle (based in SJ). They charged $31 plus tip to take my family of 4 from SJC to MV. The driver met us at the airport around midnight and waited an hour for our bags to arrive. Their number is 408 623 8633. — Vince Leone

We use Supershuttle. I think it is $25 for one person, $35 for two at the same address. It's not always smooth, but adequate. - Jim on Thaddeus

Taxi - $35 for a taxi. They're all about the same, and that's the metered rate from the airport back home. - Noah

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION - The #32 bus runs along Middlefield starting at 6:05 a.m. on weekdays, 9:10 on Saturdays. Both the bus and train stop at the Santa Clara Caltrain station, where the [free] #10 shuttle bus goes directly to the airport terminals. Schedules and fares are available at www.vta.org and www.caltrain.com.
For returning, have both the #32 bus and the Caltrain schedules handy, so you can see which is most convenient for you when the #10 bus brings you back to the train station. (I keep the #10 schedule, too.)
CAUTIONS: At the airport, be sure to get on the #10 bus that's headed for the train station, not the one heading for the Light Rail station. (Same buses, but run alternate routes.) Also be sure that the train is one that stops at San Antonio. - Marilyn 7/08

There is a free shuttle between SJC and Santa Clara Caltrain station. [WWW]http://www.vta.org/schedules/SC_10.html. It's very convenient. - Lin on Thompson Ave

We discovered that it's very easy to take Caltrain to the San Jose airport and it costs only $4! You take the train to the Santa Clara stop, get off and board the free shuttle bus #10 to the airport. I will never have to bother my friends and family again and we saved on shuttle costs. We did travel on a weekday, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference schedule-wise, but I was happy to know that there are public transportation options here in the South Bay. ~ Lara

END info from Nov 2010 ========

SJC/SFO to Monta Loma area - May 2010

Monta Loma -> SJC Cab fare to the (SJC) airport was $41 before tip.
SFO-> Monta Loma The cab fare if you just get a cab at the airport is 1.5 times the meter charge. Worked out to $89 before tip on a Saturday with minimal traffic slowdowns.

Transportation to SFO Update - Dec, 2009

I just checked the rates with several cab companies and car services for rides from Mountain View to SFO. They no longer charge more for the airport pick-up (at least not the ones I called) and none charge an up-charge for an early morning pick-up. All are 650 numbers unless noted, all charges are each way, and the charges listed do not include a tip, which is expected. Here's what I got (in no particular order):

Yellow Taxi Cab - 938-7711 - $65
Discount Airport Taxi - 722-6700 - $65-70 ($3/mile on the meter)
Airport Taxi - 930-0001 - $70
Yellow Cab - 996-4200 - $70
Palo Alto Car Service - 323-7878 - $65
AAA Bay Area Limo and Transport - (866) 552-3880 - $95
Stanford Yellow Cab - 289-0200 - $69

Info in 2006:

I asked for referrals for airport limo services to and from SFO. Neighbors recommended the following services, and I added updates after contacting each one. Since I'm going on 4 trips in the next 4 weeks, I asked them if they'd discount their rates if I book all 4 roundtrips with them.
cjasper - 2/13/06

1800 786.7180 This is the number for Limo Stop, Inc.
I found them in the phone book when I was looking for reasonable shuttles...
I used them to go to San Jose airport and they were only $10 more that the shuttle service was and they picked me up and drove me directly to the airport, no picking up anyone else....
I love them!!
Dinnie

CJ update: Regular rate is $65 each way — $59 if I book all 4 roundtrips with them (includes airport tax). Can prearrange pickups for return flights, too. They monitor the flight arrival times, and are waiting at the airport for you. You call them when you land, and they pick you up at the terminal within 3-5 minutes. They use Lincoln Towncars. Satisfaction guaranteed.

Update 4/2/08: The above phone number has been disconnected. Sheri

We've used Yellowcab (559-8294) several times to SFO. When I called
around many years ago, they gave me the best rate. Five years ago,
the gave us a flat-rate of $50 to SFO; recently, or perhaps they
changed owners, the flat-rate to SFO was $55, which was still less
than the metered rate.

Carolyn

CJ update: Regular rate is $55 to SFO; $59 back from SFO (because of airport tax). If I book all 4 roundtrips with them, it will be $50 / $55. She said that sometimes the drivers don't want to make these trips for the discounted rates. That wasn't too reassuring.

Update from Dinnie on 3/7: I just wanted to let everyone know that I called the above Yellow cab and they gave me a flat rate to San Jose Airport of $35 dollars. This is just great as there are two of us and we can go for the price of one person on the shuttle.
Thanks so much for the information!!!

When using a limo service, we found a "hidden" component of the fee was driving
their limo to your house to start the job.

If you use this limo, they are here already:

[WWW]http://www.stanfordlimousine.com/san_francisco_limo.htm

their base is on San Antonio between here and the freeway.

    Chris Hoover

CJ update: Their web site doesn't list Mountain View, but they charge $72 from Palo Alto to SFO and $87.50 from SFO back to Palo Alto. I'm guessing it would be the same from MV.

CJ update: Regular rate is $65 each way plus 15% gratuity. He said he'd remove the gratuity and just charge a $65 flat rate. (I thought gratuities were up to the customer?!)

At the hotel we use Om of 101 taxi and limo. He is very reliable and
      would recommend him highly. 650-630-0890

      Barbara
      Laura Lane

CJ update: Regular rate is $59 to SFO; $62 back from SFO. For all four roundtrips, he'll reduce it to $55 / $58. Lincoln Towncars, single passenger trips, waits at the airport when the flight is due in, you call and they pick you up "within minutes".

We recently used 101 taxi for an early morning flight. The driver was on time, also brought a car seat with him as we had requested.

I have used them for years. Pay 75 one way. Great service. This is muy long time customer price, you may be able to negotiate with the promise of multiple uses.(800) 335-4661 - Dolf

      July 2008 update by cjasper:

I used Abco Limo Service (our former neighbors on Thompson Avenue near Alvin) for the last few years and recommended them to several people. Then a couple of months ago, I started getting charges on my credit card for airport transportation in Arizona! I knew I hadn't used their service, so I called them, and they said they sometimes take credit card numbers over the phone and would credit the charges back to my account. The next month, there were more charges (6 in all on two different cards with larger amounts each time!) and no credits, so I reported them for fraud and cancelled my credit card accounts and got new ones.

It's really unfortunate, because they were very reliable and reasonably priced... if you don't count the extra they charge to your card later, that is! Anyway, I would have to say that I strongly recommend AGAINST using Abco.

=== TO SFO (November 2008) and SJC and other places (November 2010) ===

Russ Kenney, tel 650.279.1414. Also a Crittenden parent and former LAHS parent. Due to the drop in gas prices, gave the best price ($55-60); a better rate than a taxi (quoted $70) or Super Shuttle (quoted $75 for three people). Russ drives a mini van, which is handy for greater luggage capacity than a sedan. Was also able to make advance arrangements for Russ to pick up at airport for return ride.

I second this recommendation to use Russ Kenney. He has given me rides to both airports over the years, and is kind, careful with driving, and very personable. He also recently gave me a ride to an endodontist's office, where I had anesthesia, and he helped me navigate to the car, walked me to my front door, and made sure I was o.k. I felt well taken care of. So he can do airports, or doctor appointments, or anywhere else you need to go and need an expert driver as well as a friend to look after you.
