Here are the recommendations I received from neighbors when I requested allergist recommendations in April 2013:

  • There are several allergists at PAMF and we went through several of the allergists. IMHO, they are conventional practitioners and generally fine for most "garden variety" type allergies. If your allergies are severe or complex, say compounded with skin conditions (ex eczema) or food allergies or other issues (asthma), then I would recommend Dr. A. Carmen Choy, Palo Alto. She is smart, experienced and a darned good diagnostician and probably one of the top allergist in the Bay Area. Dr. Choy recently moved into a new office just across from Stanford Shopping Center. Very convenient. - Elaine

  • I would HIGHLY recommend Peter Maguire at PAMF Palo Alto. He is really good. (Disclosure - I was his 4th grade teacher many years ago.) -Dotty

  • Here's a great choice over at PAMF. He's pretty conventional, but my allergies have been a lot better the last two years, following all his advice. Dr. Peter Maquire [WWW]http://www.pamf.org/dr-peter-maguire.html - Bob on Diablo

  • I recommend Dr. Mike Mulligan, he's in the allergy dept at PAMF on El Camino near 85. My friend has been seeing him for years, and I saw him a few times. Very nice, thorough, patient. Called me back instead of having a nurse or medical assistant return my calls. -Frances

  • We have been to Dr.Choy (allergydr.net), as well as to Dr.Robert Bocian (PAMF, Palo Alto). Have had good experiences with both, though allergy doctors in general seem to be big fans of steroids. Allergy shots have been helping us though, in a big way. -Shalini
