hi all,

today i had GOLDEN STATE WINDOW & POWER WASHING come to my house to wash my home windows. WoW! i've done my own or had a housekeeper do mine for years and i've never seen my windows sparkle like they do now! they literally look like there is NO glass at all. even the places where my screens are, they sudsed up the screens, cleaned the railing and EVERYTHING! it was well worth the $200 it cost to have it done (took about 2.5 hrs with two workers).

i highly recommend lawrence and dean for their GREAT work and professionalism. i felt very comfortable with the two in my home and they were very pleasant and easy to work with.

All About Cleaning

I got the following unsolicited recommendation from another email list (cjasper - 6/17/05):

If you need a cleaning service, I can highly recommend "All About Cleaning". The owner is Rachel Gipson, an inspiring and gifted woman. It's not just about running that vacuum and dusting. It's the time of year for window cleaning, cleaning that garage, or laundering and putting away that winter wardrobe. Give Rachel a call at 408 449 9610!

Rachel and her son-in-law came by and gave me a very reasonable estimate to clean my windows and my flagstone patio, and they did the work a few days later. Excellent job! My windows are crystal clear, and my flagstone patio looks like it did when it was brand new! When they were going to be late, Rachel called BEFORE the time she was supposed to be here and then called again to let me know when she was on her way. I find that very refreshing. After they finished the job, Rachel charged what she had estimated and didn't whine about how much longer it took than she expected, like some contractors do.

I was very impressed with Rachel and her son-in-law. They've just started up this cleaning business, so I told them I'd let you all know about it. They do everything! Think about this team for those horrible jobs you don't want to do yourself or don't have time for. They do everything from general cleaning to spring cleaning to paint touch-up to post-move-out or pre-move-in cleaning to overnight clothes laundering to organizing your house! Look around. What have you wanted to get done for as long as you can remember and just haven't had time? Call Rachel... I'll bet she'll do it or find someone who will.

UPDATE 12/10/06 by cjasper: I called Rachel to have her come back to clean my windows again after a lot of yard work made my windows filthy. Apparently, Rachel is out on disability and has turned over the business to her daugher, Bonnie, and her husband, Kirby. Bonnie makes the appointments, and Kirby does the work. I was quite dissatisfied with my experience with them this time. Kirby showed up 45 minutes late and didn't call or apologize when he got here. He was rushing around, and I had to point out smudges he'd left, forcing him to go back and do over several windows. It took him 4 hours (instead of the 90 minutes I was told). And then he wasn't finished. Some vines had died and fell into the path on the side of my house and, rather than push the vines away, he opted to come back on Saturday (after my gardener was here) to finish the high windows on the side.

On Saturday, he was over an hour late. Again, no phone call and no apology. By an hour after the appointment time, I called and told him not to come, because the wind and rain were going to make it miserable for him. (If he'd come on time, the rain hadn't started yet, so that wouldn't have delayed things further.)

Today is Sunday, and he's here right now. He was half an hour late and said nothing again. I said "You know you're half an hour late, right?" He said "Yup". No apology, no excuse... nada. So he got busy cleaning the high windows on the side and touching up the smudges I'd noticed once the sun hit the front windows. He was also supposed to clean the screen doors, but the dirt was just smeared around on them, so he's doing those over again, too.

The end result: I won't hire this company again and retract my recommendation. If Rachel ever comes back into the picture, it might be a different story. But as it is now, I'll be trying one of these other vendors on the list next time.

Mark's Window Cleaning

Mark at Mark's Window Cleaning is excellent. 650-291-2200. He gives free estimates, is reasonably priced, friendly and professional. I highly recommend him. In fact, he's cleaning our windows tomorrow! Been using him for several years. Tell him Carolyn on Diablo recommended him.
