South Yuba River State Park |
South Yuba River State Park is an 11,000-acre, noncontiguous patchwork of lands along the South Yuba River canyon from near Missouri Bar to Bridgeport. The park features the Bridgeport covered bridge (the longest single-span covered bridge in the world) and South Yuba Independence Trail (the first identified wheelchair-accessible wilderness trail in the United States). It also contains numerous waterfalls, swimming holes, other hiking trails, and historic mining sites. Gold panning demonstrations are offered in Bridgeport on summer weekends, and other history tours and nature tours are also offered at various times.
