A basic necessity of any town. Nevada county boasts a Co-op and a variety of other mainstream Grocers.

Grass Valley

  • SPD Market: Near K-Mart. Has a post office inside. Deli.
  • Raley's: Grocery Stores with full deli, sushi chef, Chinese food, Peet's Coffee, and Pharmacy. Closes at 10.
  • Safeway: Downtown Grass Valley. Aisles are a little too crowded and can make you feel claustrophobic at times but they are open late. Free bathroom in the back near the vegetables and ice cream.
  • BriarPatch: Local co-op organic food grocery store. Located near Sierra College, it offers a smoothie bar, deli, salad bar, fresh sushi, desserts, and organic foods.
  • Nevada City Seafood Inc:

Brunswick Basin

  • Safeway: Brunswick Basin. One of the newest grocery stores, it replaced Ralph's in 2006. It offers a sushi chef, deli, soup bar, Starbucks, and free wi-fi. According to my dad, it also has a really good wine selection.
  • Save-Mart: Site of the former Albertson's in Brunswick Basin. It offers very good deals and is a clean grocery store.
  • Grocery Outlet: Discount grocery store in Brunswick Basin. Sometimes things might be close to expiration but most of the items they offer are brand-name at amazing prices. If you're a starving college student or poor, this is a a great location.
