The Norwalk River (also called Norwalk Mill River as early as 1705) is a river which flows from its origin in ponds located in Ridgefield, approximately 23 miles to the Norwalk Harbor, and finally Long Island Sound. The river is closely paralleled by Route 7 as it flows southward through Branchville, Georgetown, Wilton, and Norwalk, where it is joined by the Silvermine River.
