Rowayton (Rooaton as early as 1651, Rowaton as early as 1681, also Runckinheage as early as 1651) is the historical name of the neighborhood forming the southwest part of Norwalk, south of the railroad and west of Wilson Cove. This spelling dates back at least as early as the 19th Century. 1
