There are at least two places in Norwalk which have been named The Ship Yard. There was a ship yard on the west bank of the Norwalk River at the east end of Chapel Street as early as 1737. There was also a ship yard in Rowayton on the Five Mile River opposite Pennoyer Street. That ship yard dates from at least as early as 1701. 1
