Oak Island is located in North Carolina specifically Brunswick, County. Oak Island is considered part of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina but borders the northern most part on South Carolina. (As seen below). http://www.oakislandnc.com/

According to the 2010 census Oak Island holds homes for 6,738 Americans. Oak Island was founded in 1999 and has a huge summer population which is anywhere between 30,000-50,000 tourists that come for the beautiful beaches.

 

Early development on the island began with the construction of Fort Caswell on the eastern part of the island in 1838. The rest of the island wasn’t developed until the early 1930’s when people from surrounding towns began to move in.

 

Today the island holds home to 3,076 families. Attractions include over 60 public beaches for tourists to enjoy hot summer sun and have 8 recreational parks. Piers and marinas provide easy access for boats to dock and enjoy an afternoon at the restaurants located in various Marinas.  Some more attraction may include:

The island extends attractions for all ages including miniature golf for children and families, hikes and long walks down the beach with a spouse or just enjoying the warm sand of the coast of crystal clear Atlantic Ocean.
