The 5th Annual African American Caregiving and Wellness Forum is a free event gives caregivers the opportunity to learn the latest information related to Alzheimer’s disease from experts. It's taking place on Saturday, April 20, 2013, 9:00 a.m.- 2:30 p.m., North Oakland Senior Center, 5714 Martin Luther King, Jr., Way.

African Americans are twice as likely to develop Alzheimer’s, and are more likely to receive a diagnosis in the later stages of this disease, when treatment is not an option. The forum also provides caregivers with the opportunity to make connections with other caregivers, which helps lift the burden of isolation and helplessness caregivers can feel at times.

To registerplease call (800) 272-3900 or visit http://forum.kintera.org/2013AfricanAmerican. For more information, please contact Mary Norton, Senior Center Director, at [email protected] or (510) 597-5085.
