A W White was on the City Council in 1860.

Like many early Oakland residents, White was an amateur horticulturist. He is known to have raised prize-winning nectarines, rasberries and blackberries. 1 He was the owner of a wholesale and liquor shop at 61st and Adeline, perhaps making him the first City Council member to own a liquor store. 2
