Alexander "Alex" James Zavell (February 19, 1991 – January 11, 2017) was an advocate for legalizing cannabis. He is remembered with a plaque on one of the benches at Pine Knoll Park near Lake Merritt.
Zavell graduated from Head-Royce School in 2009. He worked as a senior regulatory analyst at Robert Raich Pro Law Corporation. 1
