On May 8, 2013, Chief Howard Jordan resigned, citing medical reasons. Anthony Toribio, formerly Assistant Chief, became Acting Chief.
On May 10, 2013, after just two days on the job, Anthony Toribio stepped down, and Sean Whent become the new acting Chief. Read more in this Trib Article or this KCBS post.
According to City Administrator Deanna Santana's weekly report dated May 10, 2013, "AC Toribio has made a personal decision to step down to the position of Captain of Police. He fully supports the new leadership and will continue to contribute to the Department’s ongoing effort to reduce crime and meet full compliance with the Negotiated Settlement Agreement."
