The Brooklyn was a ship which brought Mormon settlers to California in 1846. One of the passengers was Thomas Eagar; he later suggested the ship's name for the newly formed town of Brooklyn.

The ship left New York City on February 4th, 1846. It arrived 6 months later in San Francisco (then Yerba Buena) on July 31, 1846. Of the 239 passengers, 14 died during the voyage, and there was at least one birth. 1
