CASS is a large metal recycler located in the McClymonds neighborhood of West Oakland.

It's a large operation that takes up a number of blocks. When they're open you can usually see a lot of the scrap metal pick up trucks parked around the area and sometimes lines of trucks along Peralta waiting to drop off material. Inside the yards you can sometimes see massive piles of different kinds of metal.
For those who wonder about theft of metal or finding stolen property:
"Custom Alloy has a policy that they do not accept scrap from anyone with a cart. The rules, as they were explained to me, are that a seller of scrap must have a vehicle with a license plate, a valid drivers' license, and be able to provide a thumb print that all goes on file. Also, pictures are taken of all the scrap that goes over the scales and can be reviewed.
I filled out a Stolen Materials Report that a lady in the office gave me and spoke with a supervisor about what the material looked like. I was able to provide them with a picture as I had sent one to my contractor earlier with a question about a fitting. I was given an informational packet outlining a reporting process online via.ScrapTheftAlert.com., but it needed a police report filing number, which I didn't have. The supervisor said that my report and pictures would be emailed to all the scrap yards in the area that were signed up to receive alerts. In the end, my pipes had not made it to Custom Alloy, but I left feeling confident that if they did, I'd be alerted ASAP as well as the Oakland Police." [from yelp]
