The California Foundry Company (or California Foundries, Inc.) was a foundry located on 19th Avenue (now Embarcadero) immediately south of the Atlas Imperial Engine Company, on property leased from the Port of Oakland.
In 1922, a large fire damaged the plant.
Since Atlas Imperial was one of the foundry's major customers, the company ran into financial difficulty after Atlas Imperial closed in 1951, and the company gave up its lease in 1954 or 1955. 1 The site was then leased by the Empire Foundry Company starting in June of 1955.
