Joseph Thomas “Coke” Escovedo (April 30, 1941 – July 13, 1986) was a percussionist from the renowned Oakland family of musicians, the Escovedos. Coke was the brother of Pete and Alejandro, and the uncle of Sheila E.
While a member of Santana, Escovedo co-authored the hit No One To Depend On from the 1971 album Santana III.
Carlos Santana, No One To Depend On in Mexico 1993; unfortunately, there appears to be no video footage of Santana performing the song with Coke Escovedo before the latter’s death in 1986.
