College Avenue runs from Broadway in Oakland through Rockridge, north to UC Berkeley. It is lined mostly with one- to three-story commercial buildings, many of which include apartments on the upper floors. Because of the numerous restaurants, it has become a dining destination in Oakland.
[ NB: the street appears on an 1877 map of Oakland, though the name is first visible on the 1912 map. Earlier maps of Oakland don't generally extend that far north. ]
