The Community Democracy Project (CDP) is a group that meets regularly in Oakland and seeks to empower the residents and citizens of Oakland to practice democracy, such as through control of the city budgeting process.
Voter Initiative
CDP has written a voter initiative to amend the city charter of Oakland to have residents organize through neighborhood assemblies and (as individuals) annually vote on general funds allocation, special funds allocation and departmental program spending.
