Covenant House California (CHC) is a non-profit agency whose mission is to reach out to at-risk homeless youth living on the streets and offer them hope and opportunities to turn their lives around. We help abused or neglected youth who have nowhere else to go. A large number have been thrown out of their homes while others have aged out or left the foster care system with no family, no support, and no one to turn to. 1
Since 1988, CHC has impacted the lives of more than 160,000 homeless youth out of both the Los Angeles and Bay Area locations. More than 80% of their funding comes from private donations. 1
"Most youth are seeking a warm bed, a hot meal and a clean change of clothes. At Covenant House California we do that and more. We serve all homeless youth and at-risk youth between the ages of 18 to 21 with immediacy, absolute respect and unconditional love. We don't just help youths get off the streets and away from at-risk situations, but help them so that they can stay off the streets for good."
"Our campuses in Los Angeles and the Bay Area offer food, shelter, clothing and counseling. Depending on need, a youth may also receive medical care, legal assistance, educational resources, job training and referrals. Our campuses are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. All services are provided free of charge." 1
