Not to be confused with Trinity Lutheran Church which is in Cleveland Heights.

First Trinity Lutheran Church was a Lutheran church at 1445 - 17th Avenue at East 15th Street. It is listed as Trinity Evangelical Lutheran, Trinity German Lutheran, or Trinity German Evangelical Lutheran in earlier directories and articles. The brick building was constructed in 1914-1915.

The church started in 1903 as a mission under J.H. Theiss of the German Evangelical Lutheran Zion Church. While they constructed a building on 17th Avenue in 1904, the church met at Cameron Hall at 1280 - 13th Avenue. 3 Rev. Henry Haserodt was called as the pastor in 1904. 1,2

The cornerstone for the new church was laid in 1914, and the building was dedicated in 1915. H. Blohme was the architect. When constructed, the church had a towering spire atop the steeple. 2

After Haserodt retired, Rev. Alfred W. Koehler became pastor in 1940.

Based on newspaper listings, it appears they started using Trinity Lutheran about 1938, and  First Trinity Lutheran at the end of 1942.

( To keep things confusing, the 1951 cornerstone at Trinity Lutheran Church says "Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church 1951 A.D." )
