Frank Robinson (born August 31, 1935) is a retired MLB player and manager. After a notable career as an outfielder, in 1975 Robinson became the first African American to be hired as a MLB manager.

Robinson was born in Beaumont, Texas, but his family moved to Oakland, and he attended McClymonds High School, where he was a basketball teammate of Bill Russell. 1
