Join local editors, new and not-so-new, every Thursday night at 7pm in the Sudo Room (2141 Broadway, downtown Oakland)! The entrance is on 22nd St just take the elevator at the end of the hall. We'll chat it up and edit articles on things we love about our city, all in a cool new community hacker/maker/creative space. Don't have a computer? That's fine--those who do can share! Check out our article here.  

Interested in local history? Local history edit-a-thons begin in the Oakland History Room in 2013!

Join other historico-curious people every Sunday starting on January 13, 2013 for local history research and edit-a-thons. We will be meeting from 1-5pm in the Oakland History Room of the main branch of the Oakland Public Library! (map here)

On Saturday, December 1st, we held a presentation and demo of the Oakland Wiki at City Camp Oakland at City Hall! Along with fellow attendees, we created and updated a number of different articles. Check out Digital Divide, a page where anyone can discuss issues of uneven access to hardware, Internet, digital literacy, skills and networks, and connect with local organizations that are working to address these issues. Mural Lane is a corridor of murals on 15th Street between Franklin and Webster Streets. It has been developed and maintained by the Love Oakland Group (site), which describes itself as 'a collective of Activists, Artists, Gardeners and other Free Spirits that want to make Oakland the most beautiful city in the world.'

  • Come meet Oakland Wiki this weekend, Dec. 7th & 8th, at Sudo Room, a new hacker/maker/creativespace in downtown Oakland. We will be at the Sudo Room "Housewarming" the evening of Fri. Dec. 7th (we are on the Art Murmur path!) and will have a session at the Sudo Room "State of the Room" unconference Sat. Dec. 8th.   • Help us redesign our logo! We are taking submissions for our Oakland Wiki Logo Design Contest, running now until Dec. 15th! Check out the other submissions and submit your own design. The winning design will become the new Oakland Wiki logo!
  • Oakland Wiki held a presentation and demo at Oakland City Camp, Saturday, Dec. 1st, at City Hall! Oakland City Camp was an unconference that aimed to start a dialogue between City employees and tech-interested folks in Oakland. Check the City Camp entry for photos, news, and follow-up from the day.
  • On November 10, 2012 we held our first OaklandWiki bikeabout! Ten OaklandWiki-ers broke into groups and took off into various neighborhoods in Oakland to photograph the city's murals and other street art.
