The Grove Shafter dog park is a 20,000 square foot dog park in North Oakland that is part of the larger Grove Shafter Park. The dog park was built as a cooperative effort between ODOG, former City Council member Jane Brunner, and the Longfellow Community Association (LCA).

At the “leash cutting” ceremony for this park in early 2011, Brunner said, “When you have dogs at a park, it makes it safer, they love it. And, so far, the community has gotten active. It really is a great thing.” The LCA has adopted the park, pledging to join with ODOG in keeping it clean and inviting.

The dog play area is located at Martin Luther King Jr Way & 36th Street.
