The Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale Student Lounge is a room at Merritt College named in honor of Huey Newton and Bobby Seale, and their founding of the Black Panther Party.
The BPP was formed in 1966 when Merritt College was in North Oakland. In 1978, the college moved to the current location in the Oakland hills, so there isn't a historical connection to the particular room.
