Officer John Hargraves is an officer with the Oakland Police Dept.

On November 2, 2011 Officer Hargraves was videotaped with electrical tape covering his namebadge.  This is in direct violation of Oakland Police police policy and California law.

For this violation, Hargraves was suspended for 30 days.  In addition, his superior officer Clifford Wong was demoted from Lieutenant to Sergeant for failing to report this incident.

U.S. District Judge Thelton Henderson said both officers had engaged in "the most serious level of misconduct" classified by the 2003 Negotiated Settlement Consent Decree.
