Lake Chalet is a restaurant in the recently renovated Lake Merritt Boathouse. The structure was originally built in 1909 as a salt water pumping station for the Oakland Fire Department. Two wings were added in 1913 to provide a municipal boathouse. A five year reconstruction by a public-private partnership culminated in the opening of the restaurant for the building's 100th anniversary in 2009.
