Lakeview Branch Library is in the Lakeshore district of Oakland near Lake Merritt and is one of sixteen libraries in the Oakland Public Library system.  This branch has a wide variety of books, CDs, DVDs, audio books, magazines and newspapers. The library, designed by Miller and Warnecke, was completed in 1949 using funds from a bond passed by Oakland voters in 1945.

Most of the approximately 35,000 materials are popular in nature, including best sellers and one of the largest collections of Books on Tape and Books on CD.

In addition to a large magazine collection in English, the branch also carries a Chinese language newspaper.

The branch is equipped with four computers with internet access, and a small 25 person capacity meeting room equipped with a television and video/DVD player.
