Lawrence Frank Moore (July 5, 1881 – March 26, 1970) was the manager of Chapel of the Chimes from 1911 until his retirement in 1965. He invented the Moore cremation retort, and the Chapel of the Chimes installed the first electric crematorium in the world.
Moore hired noted architect Julia Morgan for the 1928 renovation and expansion of Chapel of the Chimes.
Moore served as mayor of Piedmont, and was on the Piedmont city council from 1939–1946. He was a 32nd degree Mason.
Naturally, Moore and his wife Marcelite E. Moore (September 9, 1895 – November 11, 1986) are interred at Chapel of the Chimes.
