Mannequin Madness is a small, female and Black owned business in Oakland. The company sells new and used mannequins, mannequin parts, and store fixings. They also sell art made from upcycled mannequins.
By claiming unwanted mannequins from retailers and recycling them to small retailers and creatives, Mannequin Madness helps keep mannequin matter out of landfills (as they do not break down). The business has been recognized by numerous organizations for its “green” efforts, including the EPA and the 2017 Oakland Indie Spirit Award. Judi Henderson Townsend, owner of Mannequin Madness, is known by many of her customers as “The Mannequin Queen.”
