Monte Bell Apartments were a 24-unit apartment building at 420 Hawthorne. They were built in 1930 when Hawthorne had a different alignment, and the rear of the building was at 3206 Elm St.
When constructed, they featured Marshall and Stearns wall beds, Frigidaire refrigerators, and Spark stoves.
