BIO

Morgan Kroesen Thornburgh was born in Virginia. In 1851 he moved to Kentucky then New Orleans then back to Kentucky and on to Missouri. In 1853 he came to Sacramento and worked as a deputy for his brother who was sheriff of Yuba County. Eventually he became a clerk in a general store and in 1874 came to Oakland. In 1876 he became half of Gernreich and Thornburgh, grocers. 

Thornburgh married Miss Frances Raines in 1857.1

According to one source he didn't seek his position as councilmember and may have been completely nonpartisan.

MK Thornburgh lived at 1474 Eighth Street.2
