National Night Out 2015

On Tuesday, August 4, National Night Out events will be held throughout Oakland from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Oakland Police Department’s Neighborhood Services is encouraging party hosts to register their block party by Friday, July 24, at http://www2.oaklandnet.com/nno. Oakland residents are encouraged to organize a barbeque, ice cream social or other outdoor event that brings neighbors together. Organizers who register their block parties by July 24 will receive giveaway items for kids and a special host gift. Registered parties can block off their street for free. This year, Oakland’s goal is to have 600 block parties citywide. When neighbors know each other, neighborhoods are safer. Join more than 37.8 million neighbors across 16,124 communities in celebration of National Night Out, America’s Night Out Against Crime. National Night Out is a nationwide effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie as well as to send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
