The North Oakland Church of Christ was started in 1924 3 or 1929 1 when D.A. Allen moved from Nashville to Oakland. It initially used the building at 835 - 29th St. that had belonged to the North Oakland Baptist Church.

The church was on 29th St. until 1952, when they purchased the building at 1901 Grove St. (now MLK) in Berkeley, at Ashby Ave. They then became the South Berkeley Church of Christ. 2

After more changes and a merger, they moved back to Oakland, and became the San Pablo Avenue Church of Christ at 3354 San Pablo Ave. 1
