The Oakland Cultures mural is on 40th street under the 24 underpass across from the MacArthur Bart Station. The mural is by Ernesto Olmos and was painted in 2004.

The mural was painted with authorization from the City (required for anything painted on CalTrans property) in 2003, with a commitment from the City for maintenance of the mural. Jane Brunner sponsored the legislation and funded the mural at a cost of $11,050.
