These four 10'x10' murals are "lenticular ceramic murals," a technique invented by Wowhaus, the creators of the murals. In the process, two large-scale ceramic images are mounted on a single corrugated substrate. The murals are meant to show "textile patterns representative of the cultural diversity of Oakland." When you walk by, the murals appear to change, and when you look at them head-on, they look like one picture, "evoking cultural fusion in the city." People from Oakland helped glaze 4000 tiles that make up the mural. (See website.) The murals are located in Jack London Square at the Amtrak Station.

Ellis Partners commissioned this project from "Fine Art by Day" in 2009. Wowhaus is Scott Constable and Ene Osteraas-Constable. The City of Oakland also commissioned them to make watershed markers with Measure DD money.
