OpenOakland is, according to the website openoakland.org, "a welcoming and inclusive volunteer group of developers, designers, data geeks, and citizen activists who use creative technology to solve civic and social problems". OpenOakland is a brigade in the Code for America brigade network. OpenOakland, though its volunteers and sponsors, maintains a number of projects (around 12 as of 2019) that aim to create a thriving and equitable Oakland. Many projects focus on improving the transparency of local government or helping local non-profit organizations accomplish their missions more efficiently and effectively.
